About
Trusted palliative care information for clinicians, patients and carers.
Our experts bring together guidance from nationally recognised sources, alongside top tips from clinical practice, further reading and videos. We aim to update guidance promptly and remove it once it is out of date. If you spot an error or omission, please use the feedback tab on any page.
HPAL is developed and maintained by palliative care clinicians across West and North London. Meet the team on our Key Contributors page. We welcome clinicians from every borough who would like to contribute or review content.
Why "HPAL"? The name comes from Hillingdon Palliative Care, where the site began. It was founded and funded by Harlington Hospice and expanded across North West London. When North West London and North Central London merged, it became a shared resource for the whole region, now commissioned by NHS West and North London Integrated Care Board.
Nothing on this website replaces clinical judgement. HPAL supports clinical services but is not a service in its own right, and we cannot give individual clinical advice. Please do not include personal details such as your date of birth, NHS number or diagnosis in feedback or submissions.

Would you like HPAL in your area? Harlington Hospice and Medindex work together to adapt HPAL to local services and pathways. Find out more or contact admin@medindex.co.uk.
HPAL is powered by Medindex, a digital platform supporting clinicians at the point of care.
